Milan is a dump. When I arrived by plane I tried to get to town by bike but the highways would not allow it. Good thing anyways because even after a 1 hour bus ride I spent 2 hours biking around the city trying to find our hotel. Yes OUR hotel...Bastian is coming!!!! Shower then subway to meet him at the station!

No time or impetus to write again during the weekend. Bastian arrived at 9 last night and we went into the city centre together. Ate some pizza and had some Italian beers (not bad). Then explored a Gothic, Roman Church. Spent 3 hours eating our buffet breakfast at the hotel (we're getting really good at that) then spent the afternoon exploring Milan. Not much to see and do but we had eachother so it was paradise. Ate Risotto alla Milanese for dinz. Basically just risotto and saffron. I get a sense there has not been much money in this area. Ever.

This is another one of those moments where I don't know where to begin. And just as I started writing that sentence, a farmer and what must have been his grandson found me (I am camped in their vineyard) eventhough I thought I was being so stealthy. I, obviously unable to speak Italian; and they, unable to speak English, somehow still managed a laugh, both when they found me and then after the grandfather offered his 20 something year old son up for 'la companie?!'. Talk about seizing the opportunity, grandpa!

Today Bastian and I had another perfect morning of laughs and love - all the while trying to forget the impending departure. We said goodbye midday and I headed South East on my bike while he headed North West by plane. I rode towards Parma (yes, as in Parmagiano cheese!) but not quite making it on account of daylight. Along the way I saw hookers at every pullout. And there are a zillion black people up here. Those two things are completely unrelated. As is the fact that I saw a ton of road kill, which even included praying mantises!

I probably rode 60km or so, and the weather was perfect. No wind, no rain, no heat, no cold....now, is that too much to ask for a few more weeks?
