Aquarians are a plenty. There is no doubt about it.
Seriously, is it just me, or are there so many more people in the world born in the first few weeks of February than any other time of year? Now that you agree (of course), you could try to explain this phenomenon by logically looking back nine months and wondering what is most often going on during June and July. Yes, the summer is rife with love and passion - clingy dresses and picnics to secluded places. Having said that, lest we forget the Southern Hemisphere during these months is oft blessed with their wet and stormy winters. Moreover, as a scientist I could look at this trend skeptically and make sense of it by speculating that most babies are born in February as this is often the beginning of Spring in the majority of Our Native Lands. And the rest of the animal species in the world tend to give birth in the spring, so why not us too?

However, the Aquarian in me says 'No'.
Nope. There is something more to it.
Something deeper.
Something with more meaning.

What is it? Well I believe that right now the world needs more Aquarians: thoughtful, outgoing, conscientious citizens who act locally and think globally. Individuals who, yes, have shitty boundaries at the expense of themselves; but in doing so tend to help many people around them (if those people allow themselves to be helped).

Spending a second birthday in a row in Bali didn't make it any less meaningful or special. As previously mentioned, this year's Bali adventure/venture was much more than the previous one.
It had more depth. More purpose. More compassion. More love. More gratitude ...
In essence, it had more of what I have been trying to gain in my life over the years.
It is no wonder I feel happier and happier every year - I have purpose, and that purpose is coming to fruition.

What is my purpose you ask? Well, simply put I could say it is to make the world a better place.
I have always held this value dear. It was instilled in me very young both by my family and my culture. But that is too simple, right? And especially knowing me, yes, it is far too simple. I'll admit, there are so many cracks and crevices, creases and folds; from which I could take this cloth encompassing my purpose and break it down into smaller units; different lessons learned along the way; tid bits of wisdom...

But that would require the assumption that you wanted to hear these things - or more importantly that you were ready to hear them. However, the good news is, I am an Aquarian! And thus, I talk and show and push ideas and feelings around at other people as if they all want it and are all ready for it - the single (ha!) fault of Aquarians.

balimedewiandcoffee.jpgNow for those of you who have tuned out already, the good news is I neither know, nor do I care. And you can just scroll down and quickly glance at the pictures of us taking street kids out for lunch; surfing some of the more famous breaks in the world; and generally having a good time with nature. From these pictures you can feel warm and fuzzy inside for thinking good thoughts for a moment - and then go back to living your life with your head down and your sights narrow.

However, for those Cancers, Virgos, other Aquarians and the like out there who truly do want to listen, here is a bit of wisdom that I'd like to share now that I am the rich age of 28.

Ahem....

If I was put on a stage in front of the entire world and had ten minutes to say anything I wanted. This is what I would say today - a 28-year-old girl -stumbling through life like the rest of you.

baliusnkids.jpgThe point of life is to learn: learn things about yourself and improve yourself. In doing so you will improve the lives of others and the earth as well.

There's not much of a point to life unless you're going to use your gifts in order to improve the world.

Manifest your destiny. Your thoughts are the most powerful things you have. So use them.
Every single one of them has the power to change the course of your own life and in turn the course of the world.

If you believe you will achieve. (A sentence my father wrote on the back of his business card and gave to me on the day of my grade 12 graduation). And it is true. You always get what you want. It is just a matter of time.

This earth is the only home we have. And, as in "The Inconvenient Truth", it is a fallacy of ages to think that making a decision between the Environment and the Economy is some sort of conundrum.
Hmmmm, the entire world and it's inhabitants, or, gold bars.....hmmm......
No-brainer.!
Care for the planet....Please....

There is no such thing as a good excuse. Excuses are merely fears reincarnate. The only thing to fear is fear itself. What you fear will manifest itself in the same way as what you desire.
Fear nothing. Just do it. What's the worst that can happen?

This is the only body you have. The only teeth. The only bones. The only lungs.
They are not replaceable (yet, anyways). So take care of them!

We are all leaders.
Everything you do, every word you say, has some effect on someone or something.
Teachers, parents, and politicians are not the only leaders out there. You are too.
Every time you chose to throw garbage in the garbage can instead of the street- every time you chose to walk to work instead of drive - every time you chose to bring a mug to get coffee instead of buy a paper cup - every time you chose to judge yourself, or worse, someone else....
Every time you think, say, or do anything, someone is listening or watching.
Someone is learning.
What do you want the world to learn?

Lastly, "be the change you want to see in the world".
Imagine the world that you want to live in.
Right now.
Imagine anything.
Now go and make it happen!
